Coronation Recommendations

King Charles’ coronation is just around the corner, and all over London some of the finest establishments are creating exceptional culinary experiences in honour of the new king. For some of our top picks for a coronation celebration, keep reading.

InterContinental London Park Lane, Mayfair
Located at the address which was once the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth II, enjoy an exclusive afternoon tea experience inspired by our new sovereign, with delicate finger sandwiches including slow roasted pheasant with forest truffle and balsamic pearls, Earl grey tea smoked duck with heritage beetroot and cherry jam, and Hen’s egg coronation with apricot and cress salad, followed by freshly baked scones. Priced at £55 per person, or £68 with a glass of R de Ruinart Champagne, treat yourself to the Coronation Afternoon Tea, available on Wednesday – Sunday from 3rd – 14th May, between 1 – 5pm.

The Beaumont Hotel, Mayfair
The Beaumont Hotel is taking inspiration from the precious stones in the Crown Jewels for their Coronation Afternoon Tea in their very own Gatsby Room. Alongside traditional sandwiches, they will serve ‘Emerald’ pastries of coconut cake, white chocolate and pandan, ‘Ruby’ scones of rose, jasmine and lemon choux, ‘Diamond’ vanilla and natural yoghurt tartlet and ‘Golden Topaz’ pastries with saffron, bitter chocolate and almond, for £62 per guest. Add a glass of 2018 Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs for £77 or their Gusbourne Rosé for a total of £79 per guest.

The Lanesborough, Knightsbridge
The Lanesborough is pulling out all of the stops for the Coronation, with not one but three separate culinary tributes to King Charles’ inauguration. From the 2nd- 12th May, Executive Chef Shay Cooper has curated a five course Coronation menu inspired by the King’s favourite foods as well as his commitment to sustainable British agriculture. Including sumptuous dishes such as Rhug Estate Hoggett with Wye Valley asparagus, lamb sweetbreads, mint, new season garlic or the ‘Queen Camilla’ lemon, chamomile and almond delice, you can enjoy the menu at £125 per guest and an added £95 for wine pairings. If that’s not enough to tempt you, The Lanesborough’s Coronation Sunday Lunch of traditional British fare will be on offer on the 7th May. For those who wish to celebrate in a potentially more raucous fashion, the Coronation Cocktail will be available from the 2nd-12th, with English vodka refined with Fino sherry, citrus cordial, a few drops of peaty single malt whiskey and garnished with regal gold leaf.

Benares, Mayfair
From the 1st to 8th May, Benares will be serving their Coronation specials, featuring Executive Chef Sameer Taneja’s Coronation Chicken (available with pre-booking only), complemented by their King’s Boulevardier cocktail of dry fruit infused Remy Martin 1738, Antica Formula and Campari, blended then aged in oak casks. Conclude your feast with the Almond Joconde Cake, with a white chocolate whipped butter ganache and English strawberries for a dining experience as lavish as the ceremony itself.

The Goring, Belgravia
Just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace, The Goring will be celebrating artisanal fishermen, food producers and farmers in honour of the King’s lifelong passion for horticulture with an array of mouth-watering dishes such as wild Scottish salmon with fennel glazed langoustine, pickled spring vegetables and aioli or elderflower and bergamot fizz sorbet, available to either enjoy individually or as part of a 6 course tasting menu accompanied with a glass of Ayala champagne for £150 per guest.

Wilton’s, St James
One of London’s oldest and revered culinary establishments will be serving a seven-course feast to honour King Charles, with exquisite fare such as asparagus veloute, morel mushroom risotto and rhubarb and Nyetimber sparkling wine jelly. Unlike the other options, this delectable menu will be served during dinner service throughout the entirety of May from the 2nd onwards, so there’s ample time to taste their delicious tribute to this landmark event.

Galvin at Windows, Mayfair
Head Chef Marc Hardiman has curated a five-course menu to commemorate the crowning of King Charles III, available from the 1st to the 6th May. Using only the finest of British seasonal and sustainable produce, the menu will feature Maran chicken (one of the breeds Charles himself keeps) with British peas, broad beans and wild garlic, alongside delicacies such as Lemon Cream with raspberries and meringue, rumoured to be the one of the King’s favourite desserts. The Coronation Menu will be available for £110 per adult, and £55 per child of under twelve years old.
