Following an £85 million refurb in October 2013 to the 1914 Belle Epoque building in High Holborn,The Rosewood Hotel is positioned as another sought-after destination in London's hedonistic landscape, no less for its bar. Designed by Martin Brudnizki (The Ivy, Scott's, Dean Street Townhouse), it evokes the private members' clubs of yore with a leather-bound selection of books in the library, a grand fireplace, a wooden herringbone floor, and an abundance of plush rugs, carpets and armchairs. The Rosewood has imported master drinksmith Giovanni Spezziga (Shakers Eventi, Benares), to assemble the cocktail list and man the bar. Standouts included The Humidor (Chivas 18, dry white port, absinthe stirred with Spice Formula #GIO8 and Xocolat Bitters) and the Diplomatic Immunity (Diplomatico Exclusive Rhum, Domain de Canton Ginger and Spice Formula #GIO8).
