Prosecco House - London Bridge, London

Tower Bridge is a landmark that really deserves to be admired and what better way to do it than with a flute of sparkling wine in hand? Prosecco House launched on the South Bank of the Thames in the phenomenal One Tower Bridge development with the mission of delivering the best DOCG Prosecco to London's denizens. A quick glance at the rows and rows of crystalline glass on the bar rack show that they mean business.

Set in the courtyard of One Tower Bridge across from The Coal Shed, the bar looks out onto a water feature. Inside, it's all gleaming cut-glass classiness. The airy, modern bar is dotted with colourful velvet-backed bar stools and seats with a few eye-popping objets d'art adorning the walls. There's an intimate outdoor terrace area which is perfect for enjoying the balmy summer air. However, the most salient aspect of the bar is its wine display - which puts prosecco in the limelight.

There are over twenty different types of DOCG to choose from, including one created by owner Kristina Issa. We were given a horizontal tasting that took in five different producers and particularly enjoyed the Solitario Dry Millesimato and Adami Cartizze Dry. All went very well with an array of nibbles including artichoke hearts, prosciutto di parma and large crystalline shards of parmesan Reggiano.  

For anyone devoted to the Italian sparklers or looking for a nice bar south of the river, Prosecco House is a good bet and perfect for a date.
