Mews Cocktail Bar - Mayfair, London

It's been a while since we've reported on a hot new bar in Mayfair, so we're excited to announce the arrival of Cartizze - a sexy, secretive little number nestled opposite Mews of Mayfair on Lancashire Court. Borrowing its names from the Prosecco fields of northern Italy, Cartizze does a handy job of channelling the spirit of Italia into the heart of Mayfair. The interior, executed by Fabled Design, is a plush, streamlined vision combining dip-dyed oak panelling, classic Roman accents and a New Marquina fireplace. Richard Woods is the man behind the bar. Winner of Bombay Sapphire's competition for the World's Most Imaginative Bartender in 2014, there are an array of cocktails on the menu that will curl your toes. Perhaps his most divisive selection, the Truffled Liquorice Sour is a traditional whisky sour with the addition of liquorice and truffle oil. The Olive Oil Gin Fizz had a bit more mass appeal, as well as some of the smoothest egg white that we've experience in the capital, with the olive oil administered through a pipette. If that's not your cup of tea, there are plenty of traditional libations on offer, including a blood orange bellini and a sgroppino. These are all perfectly complimented by an assortment of snacks served in a trio of paper cones (particular mention must go to the truffled peanuts) or alternatively why not explore the selection of delicious small plates on the menu- we particularly enjoyed the scallops served in mini brioche buns with a thin slice of apple and chilli jam which arrived on a glowing salt stone for that extra luxurious seasoning! Cartizze is a slick and exclusive new addition to the neighbourhood and aims to stay that way by maintaining a reservation only policy.
