The London Cocktail Clubs all have distinct personalities, yet share the same DNA, kind of like the Baldwin Brothers. And if the Shaftesbury Avenue LCC were a Baldwin, it would definitely be Alec. Easygoing and affable, not self-serious yet possessing a noticeable intelligence and wit - you can be sure to have a great time when you party with this guy. The basement bar boasts a Royal Navy theme with a design scheme paying homage to its rich history including tattoo parlour inspired decor and a soundtrack nodding enthusiastically to the 1980s and early 90s. The cocktails defy expectations and bend the palate. Case in point, the Bacon & Egg Coupet, a twisted Whiskey Sour comprised of Jack Daniels washed with smoked bacon then shaken with lemon, sugar and egg white. Your rational mind pleads with you to stand aside and let this one pass, however once you indulge, your tastebuds will revel in the breakfasty brilliance and thoroughly thank you. If you're after some actual food to supplement the mixology, choose from a small plates British menu to line the stomach. LCC Shaftesbury is a great spot for laidback fun and reasonable drinks, go ask Alec.
