Bellamy's Bar - Mayfair, London

Although the Bar at Bellamy's only opened recently, it exudes a timeless feel, replicating the ambiance of Bellamy's, a restaurant as steeped in tradition as its Mayfair environs. It's everything that you'd expect from an old school W1 bar, no new-fangled tomfoolery, just classic cocktails in a refined setting. Vintage posters from bygone eras adorn the cranberry red walls, the flooring features tessellated mustard and shale mosaic tiling, dark mocha banquettes are set across from comfortable low-slung chesterfields, and, perhaps most importantly, behind the bar you'll find formally attired bartenders creating unimpeachable classic cocktails.

There wasn't a bum note during our visit. A dry gin martini was created with a frozen glass, an atomiser of Vermouth, which was sprayed along its interior, chilled Tanqueray and a couple of olives. It was an easy perfection. The more delicate cocktails, the gin fizz, the French 75, and the margarita, were all similarly executed, and for the same price, £10. Whether you're interested in prefacing your meal with a preprandial or are popping in for a quick catch-up with a mate, the Bar at Bellamy's is a safe bet for a great cocktail.
