When you go for a drink do you like to feel secure that you're in one of the best bars in the world? When asked what their credentials are, most bartenders would tell you to sod off, not so at The Artesian Bar at The Langham, which has won more awards ceremonies than Meryl Streep, without all of the, let's face it, annoying Julia Childs/Margaret Thatcher impersonations. The latest of such is being named the world's best bar in The World's 50 Best Bar Awards by Drinks International. In our opinion it was a smartly appointed commendation. The Artesian Bar is the perfect confluence of good looks and good taste. David Collins Studios took the reins on the design and beautified the high-ceilinged and airy room with jewelled mirror panelling, blue and purple crocodile leathers and Far Eastern accents including an ornate chandelier and pagoda bar, behind which resides their greatest facet - Master Mixologist Alex Kratena, the man behind the medals. Czech born with a serious talent with the spirits, he's behind many of the staple cocktails that have garnered The Artesian such a devoted following, including their Landau Martini, with a variety of flavour-infused vermouths paying homage to the great cities of the world. Otherwise, there are literally too many good cocktails to mention here. We recommend you investigate for that.
