Offering a daring reinvention of the urban resort, the décor is austere yet eminently quirky. Nestled in the beating heart of the Big Smoke, a quick stroll away from Theatreland, Soho and St James's, it's the perfect location for staging excursions further afoot. Philippe Starck wins bragging rights for the interior. His witty and energetic ideas are apparent in the brilliant collision of influences from the modern to the baroque. Portuguese limestone flooring, oversized columns, angled niches and a glass façade projecting trippy displays of colour distinguish St Martin's Lane as a building that is truly sui generis.  Mix in the culinary delights of Asia de Cuba and The Light Bar, and St Martins is a coup of colour and light.
