Theo Randall's eponymous restaurant is tucked away in Mayfair's stylish Intercontinental Park Lane hotel and has claimed the hearts of many a London food columnist with its Italian cuisine par excellence. The dining rooms design employs a nature motif - blades of grass illuminate glass screens and abstract floral paintings decorate the walls - a nice reminder of the season-oriented nature of the menu. Randall learned the trade working at establishments such as the River Cafe and Chez Panisse and prioritises provenance. This is a place where they tell you where the food comes from: calamari with borlotti beans (from Lamon), fish stew with clams, red mullet, sea bass and lobster (from Dorset) and it is all executed to perfection. Theo Randall's leans towards the expensive and will leave a lasting impression.
