 Rhodes 24 is nestled within the beating heart of the City and perched halfway up Tower 42, once the tallest building in London. Since it was opened in 2003 by culinary wunderkind and television chef Gary Rhodes it has been lavished with praise, garnering a Michelin star in 2005 which it has retained ever since for its phenomenal Modern British cuisine. Does it hold up to the test of time? Yes.

Hovering 300 feet above the City, diners can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the London cityscape including The Gherkin, Tower Bridge and St Paul's from a luscious airy dining room featuring low-key creamy colours, smooth wood detailing, plush leather banquettes and yes, you guessed it, floor to ceiling windows! The views differ dramatically between day and night, we suggest you try both, particularly if you work in the City as Rhodes is ideal for a power lunch or an impressive dinner with clients or a date.

The modern British cuisine features signature dishes that have now become iconic. Seafood features heavily on the menu, with starters like the glazed lobster omelette thermidor emerging from the oven in a way that's almost evocative of crème brulée. For mains, choose from dishes like steamed halibut on soft white onions, parsley and braised veal risotto or for a meatier proposition, the steamed mutton and onion suet pudding with crushed swede should do the trick. Rhodes' famous desserts are not to be missed especially the buttoned-up Jaffa cakes, bread and butter and date-toffee puddings. Don't despair if you have a difficult time choosing, you can get a portion of each by ordering Rhodes 24 Signature pudding plates. The wine menu has a lot to offer which will most likely include the perfect complement to your meal, with a few rare vintages that are priced surprisingly reasonably.
