Hakkasan Hanway Place - Fitzrovia, London

The original Hakkasan on Hanway Place has attracted endless plaudits since it was originally opened in 2001 by foodie tycoon Alan Yau and was once the only Chinese restaurant in Britain to have garnered a Michelin Star. More than a decade later, Hakkasan has a cousin in Soho (Yauatcha) as well as sisters in Mayfair, Miami, Mumbai, New York, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. All in, it still garners widespread acclaim from everyone who dines at the restaurant. The design is dark, sumptuous and mysterious, with slate bricks adorning the walls and lacquered latticed screens that lend the restaurant a cinematic air. The menu at Hakkasan Hanway Place offers Chinese cuisine par excellence, with a range of dim sum, a la carte and dessert options that will not only entice but enthral as well. The dim sum is devilishly delicious with options like Jasmine tea smoked pork ribs and steamed diver scallop with vermicelli and XO sauce. For something a little more substantial sample the grilled Wagyu beef with enoki mushroom and garlic soya dipping sauce or spicy prawn with lily bulb and almond. For a more secluded group experience, opt for the Ling Ling, a semi-private area than can seat up to twenty two guests.
