Dishoom in Covent Garden has pulled in big numbers since it launched by exhuming the concept of the Bombay Cafés of yore, albeit with a cool, ultramodern design. Following their wild success they're opening up a sister restaurant on Boundary Street, complete with all of the gentle eccentricities of the old Irani cafés, a bar named The Permit Room, a bespoke India Pale Ale crafted by the Beavertown Brewery, and a courtyard that is easy on the eyes, if lacking the balmy climate of the subcontinent. The real stars of the show: intense Indian dishes that transcend traditional curry house fare.
