Chalk it down to sunny holidays in the islands or the meteoric rise or regional Mediterranean cuisines but Greek food is having its moment in London's sun, with a smattering of openings across the capital. Suzi Tros is the second outing from the Mazi team, wife-and-husband Christina Mouratoglou and Adrien Carre, who have chosen a site just around the corner from their original in Notting Hill. The name Suzi Tros is inspired by the cult 1960s film I Parisiana, and translates as 'Suzi, You Eat'. They didn't have to ask twice!

At the heart of the restaurant, you'll find head chef John Skotidas helming the open plan charcoal grill tucked in behind counter seating. Otherwise, Suzi Tros is split over two floors with a cocktail bar in the basement and the dining room on the ground floor. The setting could have been lifted directly from Santorini, with whitewashed walls and accents of azure blue throughout. We settled in with two of their signature cocktails - Summer in Hydra and Suzi Loves Passion - and ordered from the menu.

We started off with an array of snacks. Roasted red pepper with goats cheese and crushed chilli smouldered fresh off the grill. Salt roasted carrots were juicy and deliquescent under the tooth. Mestovone croquettes showcased the Greek cheese at its meltiest, and complemented them with an inky, salty ramekin of bacon jam. Whole grilled calamari was a prime example of cephalopod, springy and lashed with the flavour of charcoal. Our meal came to a toothsome conclusion with the arrival of chicken thigh gyros tacos and Grandma's meatballs with tzatziki.

If you're keen to enjoy the flavours of the Aegean without booking a flight, Suzi Tros is a fantastic option and well worth a visit.
