Chez Bruce - Since opening its doors in 1995, Chez Bruce has held rank as the restaurant to go to when heading south of the Thames. Lauded by nearly every forum, critic, guide and diner that has patronised the place, Head Chef Bruce Poole has easily proven himself one of London's finest. Overlooking Wandsworth Common, the staff navigating the jewelbox dining room will spoiled you with the proper panache. The food's core lies in French Cuisine, yet is lashed with large helpings of flavour from the Iberian and Italian peninsulas. Says Bruce 'You will find old fashioned braises and daubes alongside delicious offal preparations and lighter, simply grilled fish and meat alternatives on the menu.' Famous prix fixe offerings feature dishes such as lamb breast and tongue with roast root vegetables, pearl barley and braising juices or risotto nero with crisp sea bass, grilled baby squid and a sauté of broccoli, chilli and garlic. The fare is perfectly complemented by the winelist which boasts both reasonably priced vintages sold by the carafe and pricier alternatives that could set you back a car payment. The secluded and elegant first floor private dining room features dark burgundy walls hung with original artworks and accommodates up to sixteen guests.
