Dabbous may be booked up donkey's years in advance, but we recommend that you head downstairs to Oskar‘s Bar to get a taste of the venue with some mind-boggling good cocktails to boot. What used to house an internet cafe has been transfigured into an airy, industrial chic basement bar, with organic components like dark wooden shelves and tables paying homage to the organic components of the menu. The eponymous Oskar Kinberg runs the bar and boy does he do it well, having cut his teeth as Bar Manager at the Cuckoo Club. There‘s a touch of genius in his attention to liquid detail. Our personal favourite was the Giddy-Up, an elegant, beer-driven concoction of Tapatio Blanco Tequila, elderflower cordial, Bramley & Gage Slider, lemon juice and camomile-infused acacia honey rounded off with Sierra Nevada IPA. It‘s perfection in a pewter tankard. For something more to the point, opt for the Dillusion, with Bombay Sapphire, elderflower cordial, cucumber, dill, lemon and sugar all shaken together. Sample some of the delicious fare from the bar menu, and who knows, while you‘re sitting downstairs drinking, a table might even avail itself upstairs. You can only hope.
