Best Places to Watch Wimbledon
July 2, 2019
It’s that time of the year again – when London goes wild for Wimbledon with loads of new indoor and outdoor screening areas, tennis-inspired cocktails and dishes and just general tournaments craziness. The following are the best places to catch the action.
Bloomberg Arcade – The massive office complex cemented its status as one of the top destinations for exceptional cuisine in the City and the City as one of London’s more interesting neighbourhoods to eat in. Grab a pew on the turf atop beanbags and deckchairs and enjoy the tennis come rain or shine under the all-weather pedestrianised arcade whilst treating yourself to the excellent food of Kym’s, Ekte and Brigadiers.
Brigadiers – While we’re on the subject, Brigadiers is included on pretty much any sports roundup we write, as in our humble opinion it is the best sports bar in the world, serving the Indian cuisine that made Gymkhana and Trishna famous.
Swingers – Swingers has achieved primacy as one of the best places to play crazy golf in inner London with not one but two locations in the City and Oxford Street. Treat yourself to a round or two before watching the finals on the 13th and 14th of July, with food and drink available from street food traders including a strawberries and cream gelato by Hackney Gelato, a limited edition Wimbledon cocktail and, of course, Pimm's.
Duddell’s – High-end Cantonese restaurant Duddell’s will be offering their own Asian twist on the quintessential British favourite, the Eton Mess, made up of blueberry meringue pieces, ginger-marinated strawberries and finished off with an indulgent Yuzu cream. Perfect to be enjoyed after a meal or as a sweet bar snack, the dessert is paired with the ‘Imperial Spritz’ cocktail, a fusion of Pimms No.1, Chinese black tea, old barrel bitters and prosecco that gives a special nod to British summer time.
Berners Tavern - For Wimbledon 2019, Berners Tavern at The London EDITION has concocted a very special tennis themed desert in celebration of the world-famous tournament. In fitting with Wimbledon’s very English roots, the desert is made with British summertime favourites Strawberries and cream, whipped mascarpone, white chocolate and pistachio.
Bunga Bunga Battersea - Bunga Bunga Battersea be showing Wimbledon tennis matches on the big screen while serving up a limited-edition pizza and cocktail pairing to celebrate the world’s greatest tennis event. Enjoy stone-baked green pesto tennis court pizzas and delicious strawberries and cream rosé floats made with Grey Goose Vanilla-infused Mr Whippy. Customise your tennis court pesto-based tennis-court pizza with up to three toppings of your choice.
