Shoreditch has quickly become one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in London. No longer the sole redoubt of the hip, it attracts a powerful blend of tech moguls, city mavens, top creatives and not a few famous faces. The Curtain Hotel attracts the whole shebang, opened by NY operator Michael Achenhaum, who aimed to bring 'warehouse living with impeccable style' to the hood - creating a beautiful edifice packed to the rafters with exposed brickwork, hardwood floors, giant windows and marble bathrooms.

The Curtain comprises of 120 rooms with some pretty swanky suites. We stayed in a junior suite which included a steam shower, stunning luxurious marble bathroom, a chesterfield, desk space, lit-up Hollywood mirror, a bar area and even a private outdoor terrace with seating area. The Curtain suite includes all of that with floor-to-ceiling windows, a kitchen, living and dining room for up to 8 guests, 2 marble shower rooms and a chic bedroom with king-sized double bed and a freestanding bathtub. Throughout the entire hotel you'll find an edgy array of artwork and downstairs there's an underground nightclub that has already played host to Hercules and Love Affair and Skepta.

Perhaps most appealingly, guests have access to the rooftop private members' club, a bright and airy, glass-walled rooftop bar where breakfast is served. During the afternoon, relax by the heated pool (weather permitting) with G&Ts served in fish bowls, deck chairs and tables. It's a beautiful space decked out with a wealth of wicker, hanging plants and other Hamptonian bric-a-brac. For those looking for the complete restaurant experience, head to the basement and grab a pew at red Rooster where they play live music six days a week serving Magnus Samuelsson's Ethiopian-tinged southern soul food.

The Curtain lives up to its settings. Well worth a stop-off or a stay.
