Bloomsbury is one of London's loveliest areas, with a staunch tradition of intellectualism and some of the city's leafiest, most bucolic squares. It's also exceptionally central, particularly Great Russell Street, where the Doyle Collection has launched its fabulous Bloomsbury Hotel. A stone's throw away from Oxford Street yet remarkably tranquil, this beautiful Edwin Lutyens designed property will make you feel miles away. This sensation is compounded upon entering through a fairy lit entrance into the Sitting Room, a lounge clad in arboreal wallpaper with beguiling forest scenes, where we were welcomed for our stay.

The Bloomsbury Hotel offers a bevy of amenities that won't disappoint. Dalloway Terrace is an aesthete's haven, a verdant forest terrace nestled outside and festooned with ivy, ferns and hanging greenery. You may have seen it on Instagram. Similarly, the Coral Room has become on of London's most fabulous bars, The Bloomsbury Club Bar is a dark and inviting bolthole worthy of Winston Churchill, and The Library is perfectly outfitted for important meetings. Otherwise, there's a gym in the basement and a warren of conference rooms across most floors, as well as two ballrooms.

We stayed in one of the newly refurbished king suites and were duly impressed. The coffee table was strewn with fascinating books referencing the hotels history and the Bloomsbury Set, with an especially fascinating tome on Virginia Woolf. The king size bed was situated across from rather enormous flatscreen, with some beautiful armchairs and a large writing desk. The bathroom was seriously spacious with a rolltop bath and television as well as a walk-in shower.

Overall, we enjoyed a fantastic stay with great service. The Bloomsbury Hotel has been transformed into a real destination hotel. Across the road from Soho, with great rooms and three different options for drinking and dining, it has enormous value for money to boot.
