Simply put, The Lanesborough Club & Spa is one of the best we‘ve visited. Situated behind a separate entrance in the rear of the eponymous Hyde Park Corner hotel, even the narrow corridor smacks of exclusivity, and when guests enter the generously apportioned and appointed reception area, there is a definite sense of having arrived. The 18,000 square foot space was designed by London-based firm 1508 who are obviously au fait with luxury fixtures - having put together a resplendent lair of marble, gold, silk wallpaper and dark wood.
The gym is definitely a place to see and be seen, circumscribed with crisp mirrors and brass bars. Members and guests are encouraged to make use of the personal trainers on site, who are well-versed in the theory of Bodyism. Each have a different speciality so may focus more on rehab, functional or strength training etc to suit your needs. In addition to this, it boasts all of the bells and whistles you‘d expect in a luxury training space, including cold towels in the fridge or protein shots for post-workout pick-me-up. The changing rooms are some of the most remarkable in the capital - catering to each gender with products from luxury lines like Ila and La Praire.
The spa includes a vast subterranean hydrotherapy pool for both sexes as well as separate steam rooms and saunas for men and women. Suffice to say, they are a level up from even the most established spas in London. On the same floor you‘ll find the restaurant, open exclusively to members and guests, which serves an array of healthy options such as protein shakes, poké bowls and salads, and for those who like to celebrate a successful gym session with a flute of champagne (we do!) there‘s a fully-stocked bar to boot.
