Quirky Date Recommendations in London

Quirky Date Recommendations in London

As the days grow longer and people gravitate away from their cosy homestead, Londoners are looking to get the absolute most out of the city. Whether you're with a date, a group of friends or even in your own glorious company, Innerplace has got you covered for unusual and outside-of-the-box ideas. Read further for our top recommendations.

The Burnt City, Greenwich

Widely considered the greatest in immersive theatre, Punchdrunk are known for their dreamlike choreography, elaborate sets and vivid storytelling- and The Burnt City is no different. Don a mask that will render you unrecognisable to your party and search the space on your own to find different scenes and follow intriguing characters. The action loops thrice over the course of the evening, so you can go back to search for new narratives or take a seat in their cabaret bar to catch up with your cohort before heading back inside for the finale. Whilst you could go on your own, half of the fun is dissecting the action with your date at the pub afterwards, so head to Greenwich for a captivating evening of entertainment.

Cookery Classes with Hometainment

This option might not take you far from your doorstep, but if you’re looking to widen your horizons, Hometainment is a fantastic choice. Everything from private cookery lessons, private bartending or cocktail masterclasses, musicians, DJs to even crystal workshops, candle-making or private poker nights. For an anniversary or birthday celebration where you and your chosen ones are the only guests receiving the VIP treatment in the comfort of your home, enquire with Hometainment for an utterly unique experience.

Enrica Rocca Cookery Lessons, Notting Hill

Some of our Innerplace team have been lucky enough to sample Enrica Rocca’s cookery lessons recently and we cannot recommend it enough! Make your own fresh pasta from scratch at their ‘Pasta E Basta’ class or take a whole day to tour the iconic Portobello market to search for the best ingredients and make a seasonally sourced meal with their full-day cooking class. Enrica Rocca has been voted one of the top ten cookery schools in the world, so enquire for a date night or a special gift for a loved one.

TT Liquor, Shoreditch

If you’re looking for a first date with the timeless quality of an old school movie, head to TT Liquor, a one-stop shop for (you guessed it) drinks, in both their cellar bar serving seasonal conceptual cocktails or their heated rooftop terrace bar, and entertainment, as they have an intimate 52 seater vintage cinema. All cinema tickets come with a cocktail, but if the film ends and your thirst isn’t quenched, just head upstairs to the bars and indulge in a nightcap.

Nomadic Experience, Chalfont and Latimer

This woodland dining experience at the edge of London is a truly magical affair. Ten minutes from Chalfont & Latimer underground Station, step into a forest of bluebells, where you’ll be taken on a foraging tour before enjoying a feast under the stars. After your meal, you can sit around the fire wrapped in blankets and gaze up at the night sky in this restaurant without walls, and soak up all that nature has to offer you before you hop back on the Metropolitan line and back to the bustling city!

Lost Estate

This new immersive experience has made a stellar impression since its inception in 2017, and has recently found a flagship location (although you will have to book to learn the location of their clandestine headquarters). Arrive dressed up with a secret password to enjoy a speakeasy style dinner as the company performs innovative reimaginings of classic tales, from Swan Lake to A Christmas Carol to Hound of the Baskervilles.

The Bletchley, Chelsea

An interactive bar where you solve mind-bending riddles and search for clues as you sip your scotch, this Chelsea venue creates the perfect ambience for a date or a fun night out with friends. The deductions you make alongside the WW2 style enigma machines will aid your mixologists in mixing your drink of choice, so if small talk isn’t your thing, these immersive activities will keep the conversations flowing.

Swingers Crazy Golf, multiple locations

This might not be the most unusual date idea, but it’s a classic for a reason, and will definitely make more of an impression than dinner and drinks. Swingers have locations in the West End as well as the City, where you can enjoy crazy golf alongside delectable street food, cocktails and fun vintage themed decor (you can choose between a 1920s British Seaside theme in their West End branch or a 1920s English countryside theme in their City branch). Pre-book packages for included cocktails and food or simply buy your tickets, turn up and see how you feel!

Monarch Theatre, Mayfair

Inspired by DC heroes and villains, the Monarch Theatre combines multi-sensorial storytelling with high-calibre culinary execution. Watch cutting-edge wall to floor projections in the intimate 20 seater restaurant as you enjoy a 10 course tasting menu alongside specially selected drinks pairings. For an intriguing, sensory experience to enjoy with a date or friends, head to Park Lane for the Monarch Theatre.
